Equine-Assisted Therapy is a therapeutic approach that incorporates interactions with horses to support mental health, emotional regulation, and relational healing. Sessions are facilitated by Sarah Chouffot, RSSW, in collaboration with Lorraine Fraser (equine specialist) and are grounded in recognized clinical frameworks.

Horses are highly attuned to human body language, emotional states, and nervous system cues. Their natural responsiveness enables them to serve as relational partners in therapy, offering immediate, nonjudgmental feedback that supports self-awareness, emotional regulation, and insight. Through this interaction, clients may explore patterns related to safety, trust, boundaries, communication, and connection.

Equine-assisted therapy is commonly used to support individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, relational difficulties, and stress-related challenges. Sessions are client-directed and trauma-informed, emphasizing physical and emotional safety, informed consent, and respect for individual pace and readiness.

Equine-assisted therapy does not replace traditional psychotherapy; rather, it complements talk-based approaches by engaging the body, emotions, and relationships in a holistic way. Outcomes may include increased self-regulation, improved emotional awareness, strengthened relational skills, and enhanced capacity for connection.
